Hey guys,

There is a great event coming up next Friday! You can’t miss it. It is in partnership with all these organization wanting to fight the injustice of Human Trafficking. Another example of someone deciding to take action and doing it!

Orange County Human Trafficking Task Force in conjunction with UCI Chi Alpha, Talent 1 Media, and East West Event Productions present:

ONEHEART OC – an evening of art, poetry, film, and music benefiting victims of human trafficking in Orange County.

Join local community and student organizations for a time of education, entertainment, and empowerment surrounding the important issue of human trafficking.

There are an estimated 27 million slaves living in our world TODAY even in our own backyard. Proceeds from this event will benefit victims of trafficking here in Orange County.

Hey All!!!
Just wanna give all of you a big shout out for helping out with SWAMP Fest!!!!

We had over 120 people attended, with over 30 local artists showcasing their talents in Spoken Word, Art, Music, and Photography, and we raised over $800 for Casa Hogar Orphanage’s special lunch program, eye care program, and new land/building fund!!! (And this number is still growing because I have more people that couldn’t make it to the night that still wanna donate!) Praise God!!

Congrats to David and his team on the success of S.W.A.M.P. It was truly awesome to see an event come together that celebrates Art and raises money for causes. Again Great Job!

Please join us for a special festival of Spoken Word, Art, Music, and Photography by more than 30 local artists in a fun, casual atmosphere!

Admission is $5. All proceeds will benefit Casa Hogar Sion Orphanage in Tijuana, Mexico.

Everything is so new lately. The birth of my first child, Sophia, has completely rocked my world. I was so confident that I was going to able to handle all my duties and a child, but I was quickly humbled.

I’ve been on a lifelong quest in search of finding balance between my priorities and just when I thought I had it, I feel like somebody put me in a blender and mixed me all up.

As of November 1, I also started my role as the new Creative Arts Pastor/Director. With it comes a huge responsibility. My leadership will dictate what happens at Newsong in regards to worship services as well as special events.

And in addition to that, I am involved with “The Venue”, an online experience of third culture community.

And I’m still shooting weddings and freelancing all over the place.

Also my passion for Art United is still strong. With people like Phil, David, Shana, Dan, Dennis, Johnny, and many others taking action and making a difference, I am excited to see where this all leads.

So here is a quick update of me since my last post. We’ll be holding our next Art United Roundtable soon, so be on the lookout for that!

Baby Watch 2008

Well, folks we’re are down to the last week until I go from being a boy to becoming a father. I know this is pretty personal for a blog about artist making a difference, but this all started from a sleepless night when I wondered what was keeping me up.

A lot has been going on with my life as well as some great things that spawned from Art United Roundtables.

Emi Meyer and BBQ Chicken Robot came together with TEL3HQ Studios, to have a Underground live session performance. It was so cool and awesome! Be on the lookout on www.BBQChickenrobot.com for the video. (Johnny from BBQChickenRobot met Phil from TEL3HQ Studios at an Art United Roundtable)

Shana Fu have started to develop a business plan for herself to become an event management consultant for non-profits.

October 10, 2008 – Call and Response screening @ Westpark 8, Edwards Cinema. Unfortunately due to my junk email bot, I didn’t do a great job with corresponding with the organization, but we can still definitely support them but going and viewing the film.

October 24, 2008 - Justice N.O.W (Night of Worship) @ Newsong Church, Irvine. Charles Lee from Just One, Newsong, AU and others are joining together to bring awareness and call to action to fight injustice. Art United will be involved with the Art Gallery that will be there at the event.

I recently saw this TED video of Richard St. John’s talk about his 8 Secrets of Success. I found it amusing and fun, but really spoke to me.

Art United Roundtable – La Habra, CA

Last Wednesday, Art United held it’s second Roundtable. This time in T3LEHQ Music Studio. We had a great discussion and feel we made some progress in identifying what the next steps are with each others project.

Here is a brief recap:

(1) Shana and David aligning themselves with Johnny and Talent One Media to organize a fundraising event for the next film festival.

(2) Emmy shared her desire to start a clothing manufacturing school in South East Asia that will create high end designer clothing to create a sustainable business for the women rescued from Trafficking.

(3) Belinda is trying to discover what it is she wants to do with her talents in interior design.

(4) We encouraged Ben Han to continue on with his “Chozin” brand and not let life slow him down.

(5) Phil shared his desire to help offer resources to others who are making a difference.

Also, we created an email group with google groups, art-united@googlegroups.com as well as started using a new social networking tool. http://artunited.ning.com

I’ve been recently struggling with my desire to do something BIG! Something that will really make a BIG difference. But in this struggle, I felt like I was starting to burn out. I felt like that “Big Bonfire” that makes a big impression but sizzles out quickly.

I got a chance to retreat into Ventura County with fellow staff members of Newsong, and there I saw a Ted Video that really spoke to me. It was a talk from the Creative Director of IDEO, Paul Bennett.

The last point he made in his talk was this;

“Pick Battles Big Enough to Matter, But Small Enough to Win”

Yesterday, I volunteered with an after school program called “Express Yourself” and I got to hang out with about 12 kids from 7th to 10th graders. I really had hesitations on starting this 12 week program with these kids because my daughter will arrive in less than a month but after my hour with them was over, I really felt I made a difference. It wasn’t a spectacular life changing difference, but it still a difference.
